When was the last time you saw a friend?
If it’s been over a week, it might be time to reach out.

Research shows that social connections can lower your risk of dementia, heart disease, and stroke. Beyond disease prevention, an 85-year Harvard study found social connection to be the strongest predictor of happiness and well-being. Conversely, loneliness increases your risk of death by more than 25%.

The well-known well-publicised study, which began tracking teens in the 1940s, found that strong relationships later in life were key to good health, as loneliness acts as a major stressor.

It’s not about having many friends — but fostering meaningful connections.

The researchers recommend connecting with someone—be it a friend, partner, or family member—at least once a week.
Just like exercise strengthens your body, regular social interactions build your “connection” muscles for a healthier, happier life.
