Bigger than AI: ’We’re at the beginning of the second longevity revolution’

The concept of an aging population is often seen as a societal burden, but London Business School professor of economics, Andrew J Scott, challenges this perception in his new book, The Longevity Imperative. Scott introduces the evergreen agenda, advocating for a sustainable lifestyle that allows humans to thrive as average lifespans continue to increase. He argues that the fact that young people today can expect to live to a very old age is a revolution in itself and represents a huge opportunity. However, this opportunity requires radical change to ensure that the quality of life matches its newly found quantity. Scott’s previous work calculated the economic value of increasing US life expectancy by ten years to be a stunning $367 trillion, and in The Longevity Imperative, he proposes how we can make the most of the extra life that we have already successfully created for ourselves.
