Before you decide

Is this for me?

Why do an examination?

To take an active, informed role in your long-term health. A thorough examination makes it easier to understand your current health and to act on potential risks before symptoms appear — which can matter all the more when your health also carries responsibility towards your family and your business.

Who should do the examination?

Everyone, but especially those who have an inherited burden of serious diseases such as cancer, stroke or heart attack, those approaching 50 years and who knows that they have a stressful job, smoke or have other risk factors.

Is an Executive Health exam suitable for me?

If you are over 30 and interested in your long-term health, an Executive Health exam may be appropriate for you. We use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to obtain detailed images of specific areas of the body. MRI does not use x-rays (ionising radiation).

How will an Executive Health exam benefit me?

It’s an old saying, but it’s true. Prevention is better than cure. If we pick up risk factors or specific conditions early, i.e., before symptoms appear, the likelihood is that treatment will be simpler and more effective.

Getting started

Booking & preparation

How do I book a health assessment?

Contact us here, or you can call us on +46 8 410 957 00.

How do I prepare for the exam?

You need to fast from the night before your exam. Depending on if you have any extra exams (like PillCam) the doctor might ask you for more special preparations.

How long does the exam take?

The duration depends on your chosen exam. Find more information on our screenings page.

How often do you do the examination?

It depends on your age and risk factors, if you are over 50, we recommend every 3 years. Please consult our doctor about the time interval that is appropriate for you.

Comfort & accuracy

Safety & the MRI

I am claustrophobic — can you minimise my fear during the MRI?

Executive Health’s doctors understand that many people suffer from claustrophobia and may find the prospect of being inside an MRI scanner challenging.

If you tell us about your situation at the time of booking your full medical check-up, we will invite you to view the MRI scanner and to have a trial run inside the MRI. This will allow you to see that Executive Health’s MRI scanners are much wider than you may have experienced previously in more traditional medical facilities. At the same time, you will be shown how to use a hand-held button that can stop the scan within seconds should you start to feel anxious.

Should you still be feeling apprehensive on the day, we can provide you with a mild sedative to settle your nerves and you can invite your partner, a family member or friend, to sit beside you during the scanning process.

I am fitted with a pacemaker, can I still do the exam?

If you are fitted with a pacemaker, we will not perform MRI scans due to the associated risks.

Will I know I’m one hundred percent healthy if I do the examination?

No, you cannot get any guarantees that you are one hundred percent healthy. The Executive Health Examination uses today’s advanced diagnostic methods in a thorough, structured assessment. While no screening can guarantee complete certainty, early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

What will you look for in my examination?

We look for the diseases that are the main cause of death and their principal risk factors.

After & assurance

Results, privacy & cost

Do I really want to know the results?

We focus on conditions that have a good chance of being treated successfully when detected early. In some cases a screening reveals a previously unknown condition that benefits from early attention; in others, it offers reassurance. Many clients see the examination as a way to take an active role in their long-term health. Feeling some ambivalence about a comprehensive assessment is completely normal — established screening programmes such as mammography can prompt the same feelings.

Is my information confidential?

Our clients’ privacy is very important to us. All your personal details, examination results and images are secure and will never be given out without your consent.

I have health insurance; do I need an Executive Health examination then?

A health insurance is useful when you become ill and are undergoing treatment. An Executive Health Examination is designed to detect conditions before symptoms appear, so the two serve different purposes. Whether your screening is reimbursed depends entirely on your policy and the country you are in, so we always recommend checking with your insurance provider first.

As a general guide, public health systems do not typically cover preventive screening, while some private or international policies may reimburse part or all of the cost. Your insurer can confirm exactly what applies to you.

I screen annually in the U.S. — are you as good as they are?

Executive Health uses comparable imaging technology and follows the same evidence-based diagnostic standards as leading international clinics.

Have you had physicians as customers?

Yes, we have physicians as customers, including oncologists.

The information on this page is general and provided for educational purposes only. It is not medical advice and does not replace consultation with a qualified physician. A health screening is a diagnostic assessment; it cannot detect or rule out every condition and does not guarantee any specific health outcome.
