High blood pressure

Most people know that stroke can be devastating – but fewer realize that high blood pressure (HTN) is the single most important cause behind it.

Research clearly shows that:

1. Up to 60% of strokes are linked to high blood pressure
2. The risk increases step by step – there is no safe "normal zone"
3. Lowering blood pressure halves stroke risk, both in primary and secondary prevention

In short: blood pressure control is the most effective measure to prevent stroke.
It's not just a cardiovascular issue – it's crucial for brain health and long-term quality of life.

Studies show that stroke risk can be reduced by up to 90% by optimising 10 key risk factors (see figure).
But just by getting your blood pressure under control, the risk can be reduced by about 50%.

Atrial fibrillation (AF)

Atrial fibrillation is an often silent but very significant risk factor for stroke.
Left untreated, AF can increase the risk up to five times, but with early detection, the risk is highly treatable.

At Executive Health, we screen for AF through continuous measurement with a wearable worn for a few days, which makes it possible to detect even intermittent and asymptomatic episodes.

Early detection, regular measurements and targeted treatment make a difference.
