Important to Know About the Brain

The brain-health check by Executive Health uses AI to assess dementia and Alzheimer’s risk from existing MR images—and emphasizes prevention through exercise, sleep, diet and mental activity.

Executive Health recently launched a Brain Health analysis examination. It is an AI-based software that analyzes various parameters of the brain with a focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s. Below follows important information about the Brain Health analysis:

  1. Early detection is very important even when it comes to dementia and Alzheimer’s. It is far better to begin any possible treatment sooner rather than later.
  2. This is a risk analysis – i.e., the examination does not mean that you are guaranteed to get dementia or Alzheimer’s, but it gives you valuable information about your brain that previously could not be obtained.
  3. You do not need to come in to make a new examination – we perform the analysis on existing MRI images from your previous screening examination.*
  4. Approximately 75 % have a completely or very nearly perfect analysis. About 20 % have a small deviation, which leads us to recommend a new analysis in one year. About 5 % have a sufficiently deviant analysis that we recommend a more thorough investigation.
  5. Regardless of result, what can be done in terms of preventive measures? Executive Health highlights in line with current research four lifestyle factors that reduce risk. The positive thing is that all of these factors are things we should already be working on and hopefully already think about daily. They include exercising more, sleeping better (especially important to be evaluated for possible sleep apnea), better diet with focus on lowering fasting glucose, and continuing to stay mentally active (chess, playing an instrument, learning a language, etc.).

*If the MRI was within the last five years. If you are over 70 years old we still recommend you come in and do a new brain MRI.
